In my opinion, one's favorite music is the easiest way to get to know a person. If you know someone's favorite band, genre, or song, then you will always have something to talk with them about. Here is a list of the music that went into forming the person I am today, along with a little story as to how each impacted me. The dates listed are not release dates, but rather, when the album entered my life. Please feel free to browse around and get to know me a bit.
Early Influences
1977 - The Beatles/1967-1970 - The Blue Album - Click For Playlist
This was the first album I ever plugged into my brand new 8-Track player as a child. Is there any better band to introduce a person to music. I think not.
1978 - Styx - The Grand Illusion
This was the first album I bought with my own money. My brother had it on tape, but he would get mad when I'd listen to it. Plus the cover was just awesome! I had to have it.
1980 - Various Artists - High Energy by K-Tel
This was the main disk from my disco / Casey Kasem era. I was in love with Blondie and I played this album repeatedly on my GE Show and Tell Phono viewer. Mickey Mouse had taken a back seat to pop music.
1982 - Men At Work - Business As Usual - Click For Playlist
Here is an album that was a Christmas gift in 1982. I still remember my uncle listening to a few songs and asking me what I was doing listening to punk rock? I said no it's New Wave, He said it's all noise to me.
1985 - Deep Purple - Providence Civic Center
My first ever concert experience was this very Deep Purple show filmed by MTV in the Providence (R.I.) Civic Center. Too bad most of the show has gone missing. My biggest memories were the guy in the bathroom selling pills out of his trenchcoat, and it was also the first time I ever smelled the sweet Smell of Sweet Leaf.
